In my spare time, I love to travel and experience new adventures with my husband Joel. We love to try exciting things like white water rafting, hiking, flying planes, and even taking hot air balloon rides! I am a HUGE Disney fan and try to visit at least once a year. With over a decade of experience in the education sector, I have had the privilege of teaching various grade levels, including two years of Kindergarten at CIS. For the past two years, I’ve taken on the role of Director of Summer Camp, where I’ve cultivated a dynamic and engaging environment for our students. Now, I am thrilled to embark on a new journey as the Director of Admissions and Marketing at CIS. I am passionate about working closely with families to help them find the perfect educational fit for their children, and I am excited to be a part of this meaningful process.

Personal:
In my free time I love spending time with my family, my husband Jesse, daughter Capri, and son Rocco. We love to go on adventures, watch Bluey, and eat Italian food. I am currently learning to sew, love reading books and taking walks. I also love sharks and celebrate Shark Week every year!

I also love to bake and try new recipes. We love to both play and watch sports and enjoy cheering on our favorite teams.

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to teach kindergarten through fourth grade at two different schools in California: Libertas Academy in Angels Camp and Grace Family Christian School in North Highlands. In recent years, I served as an assistant with the Placer County Office of Education, supporting individual students’ academic and behavioral goals. I am thrilled to return to teaching kindergarten this year at California International School. It is incredibly rewarding to work alongside students and watch them learn and grow.

Personal:
was raised in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains called Arnold. In 2010, I moved to Rocklin to pursue my undergraduate degree at William Jessup University, where I met my husband, David. We’ve been married since 2018 and welcomed our son, Charlie, in 2022. We currently live in the Roseville area but will be relocating to Loomis this fall. We can’t wait to watch our son grow up in the country. In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking, and spending time with my family. I’ve been a fan of Taylor Swift since 2006 and love exchanging friendship bracelets with other Swifties.

I am very excited to start my sixth year of teaching this year! I received my education in Southern Oregon and taught there for five years. I started my career in a small one room charter school where I taught grades Kindergarten through fourth. I then moved to public school and taught first grade for three years and jumped up to fifth grade for one year. I am really looking forward to getting back to my first-grade roots! I love teaching first grade because of how passionate students are. Students at this age are growing into their personalities, and I love fostering that growth in the classroom through projects and exploration of academics and social skills. 

Personal:
I was born and raised in Southern Oregon; I grew up and went to college all within 30 miles. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher, and I find a lot of joy and fulfillment in my career. When I am not working, I have lots of hobbies! I love to read, craft, try new foods/ restaurants and play board games or video games with my partner and friends. I also have two fur babies- my cats Pickle and Biscuit. I am excited to be starting this new chapter in California exploring all the natural beauty and finding lots of fun new places to eat!

Work Experience: Before I moved back to Loomis, I was a kindergarten teacher in Reno, Nevada for a year. I wanted to be closer to family and friends, so I moved back to the Sacramento area and began teaching 1st grade at John Adams Academy in Lincoln for two   years. I am so excited to start my first year teaching 3rd grade here at California International School.

Personal: I am originally from the area, primarily growing up in Loomis, CA. After graduating from UNR and teaching kindergarten for a year in Reno, I decided to move back to my hometown area to be closer to family and friends. I currently reside in Loomis with my boyfriend, Sawyer, and our rescue dog Sammy. I am so excited to make California International School another place to call home! In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking, painting, backpacking, and when I get the chance to travel to a new part of the globe, I take it! So far, I have been to over seven countries.

In my first year at CIS I worked alongside Mrs. Lara with the fourth-sixth grade classes and as a Makerspace teacher. During the 2023-2024 School Year, I served as the fourth & fifth grade blended teacher. This year I will serve as the fifth and sixth grade blended teacher. Prior to coming to CIS, I taught for six years in grades 2-4 at the following places in London, England: Wilberforce Primary School where my role was to work with small groups of students and improve their gaps in understanding and knowledge within the curriculum, particularly numeracy and literacy; Middle Row Primary School, which is a school known for its diversity and motivating life-long learning; Ashburnham Community School, which is  known for its multicultural diversity. I was proud to be involved in the new restructuring of the school and becoming a part of the new creative curriculum; and Yeading Junior School, which is a state school situated in a low socio-economic area within London. This opportunity allowed me to work with students who needed more support. I also worked at Natomas Park Elementary School, where I was given an internship opportunity to teach with a third-grade class. My goal was to gain experience and to learn how other educational systems vary by country.  Through all my experiences, one of my goals as a teacher has been to establish an energetic, lively environment where children get excited about learning by using a diverse range of strategies which appeal to the students to keep them engaged.

Personal:
Although born in Budapest, Hungary, I grew up in Brisbane, Australia. After graduating from my bachelor’s degree in 2009, my husband and I moved to London, where I gained most of my teaching experience working in various schools within the inner city of London. What was to be a 6-12 month cultural/travel the world experience, turned into seven years! After which we moved here to Rocklin for my husband Andrew's career in acoustic engineering. I have been blessed with being able to stay home and raise my three boys, Taylor (11), Jamie (9) and Milo (4), for the last few years. As a family we enjoy hiking, going up to the snow, and exploring coffee shops. My personal hobbies include crafting, ballet, coaching soccer, reading, reading and more reading! The last few months have been amazing coming back into teaching. I have felt really supported here at CIS throughout this journey, and I’m excited about the year ahead!

This year will be my fourth year of teaching. Prior to coming to CIS, I worked in the Roseville City School District teaching fifth grade in an online classroom.  Previously I taught in both fifth grade and first grade classrooms while at Chico State, teaching both in person and online.  My first year at CIS I taught third Grade, and in the 2023-2024 School Year I taught Science, Technology and Engineering the Makerspace.  I look forward to resuming this role in the 2024-2025 School Year.

Personal:
I grew up in the Roseville/Rocklin area and then moved away for college. After finishing my teaching credential, I moved back to Rocklin to start teaching. In my spare time I enjoy indoor cycling, reading a good book, and going for walks with my dog Stefan. I also love traveling with my family and exploring new places.

Personal:
I was born and raised in San Jose, California. As much as I love the bay area, I needed a change of scenery and moved here to Roseville in 2020 to be closer to family and immediately fell in love with the town. During my free time, I love taking my dogs for runs, taking hikes and adventures to different trails. I am looking forward to joining the California International School family and making lasting connections with everyone around me while teaching the students how fun learning Spanish can be.

I began my teaching career in Beijing working at the Beijing Experimental High School as a history teacher for two years. After leaving China in 1990, I taught K-16 Chinese as a second language in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. In 2005, I accepted a position as a lecturer for the Chinese program at Iowa State University before becoming an associate teaching professor. After moving to Sacramento in August 2022, I taught Chinese for two quarters at the University of California Davis. I served as the Mandarin Teacher last school year here at CIS, and I look forward to resuming this role in the 2024-2025 school year!

Personal:
My research interests are the psychology and methodology of second language acquisition, etymological knowledge development, cognitive processing of Chinese characters, and Chinese folk culture and folklore. I received Excellence in Undergraduate Introductory Teaching Award 2017 at Iowa State University, and instructor recognition from Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Eta Sigma Honor Societies in 2013.

I am pleased to join California International School. I am excited to dedicate my 30 years of teaching experience and educational philosophy to this wonderful school. I look forward to helping students develop their communication capabilities in another language and have an appreciation for the Chinese language and Chinese culture.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy singing at the Choir as a soprano, playing badminton, table tennis and pickleball, doing yoga and traveling.

 About me: 

I have been working with students for over 20 years. I taught school in Arizona before my family moved to California. I have two grown children, Carolyn and Alan. Since my children are grown ups, it is just my husband and myself at our house. We like to do running/walking races, watch and go to baseball games, take walks and go to Starbucks and read. This is going to be a great school year!

About me: 
I have been working with young children for over 15 years, the majority of which I spent teaching in Pre-K classrooms. This is my first year at CIS, and I am excited to be assisting in Kindergarten this year! My favorite hobbies include reading, plants, and photography. I'm always interested in learning new things, and consider myself a lifelong learner. My greatest joy is getting to watch children learn and master new skills. I am currently going to Sierra College and majoring in American Sign-Language and English major. My goal is to become a teacher to deaf students at the High School level. Being Ms. Arnold's aide will be my first taste of working inside a classroom with the beginning steps to becoming a teacher. I enjoy golfing, writing, reading and my favorite food is nachos!

In 2004 I earned an Elementary School Teaching Degree from South Ukrainian State Pedagogical University in Odessa, Ukraine. This will be my first year with California International School. I love my job. I have always loved working with children. I have a wonderful opportunity this year to support your children in the classroom. My goal this year is to help all children feel excited about coming to school, be here for your child, and encouraging them every day to try their best but to always have fun while doing so! 

About me:
I received my Bachelors degree from Fordham University where I majored in English, specializing in Shakespeare and creative writing. This is my first year with CIS and I am so excited to create and learn! I have recently moved to California from New York and am always looking to meet new people and make new friends! I am an avid reader and aspiring writer who does cosplay in their free time. All this to say, I highly value creativity in both my professional and personal life. I plan to bring this energy into our Makerspace, helping direct and guide your child's unique creative goals.

I come from a family full of educators and volunteered in classrooms before coming to CIS. I have worked with CIS since last year as an Educational Assistant and Performing Arts Teacher. I’m excited to continue to bring a positive attitude, foster growth and learning, and fun for our young scholars every day! I love to keep life balanced with adventure and relaxation.
